General English

Seafield School of English offers a dynamic and immersive General English programme designed to improve communication skills in speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. With 12 active General English classes running at any time鈥攔anging from Beginner to Upper Intermediate levels鈥攕tudents are placed in the level best suited to their current ability and learning goals. Regular six-weekly assessments help track progress and inform pathway options, whether for further study, employment, or personal development.

To support flexible learning, classes are offered in the morning, afternoon, and evening, allowing students to choose a schedule that fits their lifestyle. Each class is capped at a maximum of 18 students, ensuring quality interaction and individual attention. Beyond the classroom, Seafield also organises weekly after-class activities, encouraging students to practise English in real-world settings and build connections within the school鈥檚 diverse and welcoming community.

Completed Seafield application form and be over the age of 14 years old.  Students will sit an online placement test to determine their level and class they will attend.

Seafield is an NZQA Category One accredited education provider based in the vibrant and exciting city of Auckland and offers a wide variety of English courses for all levels. Whether you require General English, New Zealand Certificate in English Language (NZCEL), LanguageCert exam preparation and IELTS exam preparation course for higher studies, we can deliver a course that takes you wherever you want to go.  All academic programmes have a free online placement test available which is othered weekly.

Our city campus is right next to the Auckland SkyCity Tower and consists of 2 levels 16 classrooms, large computer lab and an open student space.   General English classes have morning, afternoon and evening sessions for you to choose from.  Enrolments of 14 weeks or more will receive in-study work rights of up to 20 hours a week on a student visa.  We alos cater for short-term study for those on working holiday visas.

Our NZCEL programmes levels 4 and 5 were the first to be permanently approved by NZQA to be delivered online/offshore and we have multiple classes delivered online to students in their home country also.
